In response to my Lighting up DC blog post, here's a video of the solar lamps on the Metropolitan Branch Trail at night. I do have two suggestions if they choose to do this elsewhere. First, lower the lights by 5 feet to better illuminate the running and bike path. It's all about optimizing light distribution and intensity and here are some complex graphs to impress you. Second, the light fixtures need to be fastened. I noticed a number of burnt out ones rattling in the wind, which I assume has something to do with their outages.
Please excuse the shaky nature of this video. I was recording while biking with no hands.
